Michael Dunn has spent a lifetime creating, teaching, exploring, and looking at the world a little differently.
Born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota, Michael's journey as an artist began more than five decades ago. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in art and physical education from Valley City State University and later earned a Master of Studio Art from Moorhead State University.
Since 1975, Michael has worked professionally as an artist and educator. His artwork has been featured in local, regional, and national exhibitions, receiving numerous awards, and his paintings can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.
But a résumé only tells part of the story.
For Michael, art is about curiosity. It is about exploration. It is about finding the extraordinary in places others might simply pass by.
His love of the landscape—particularly the wide-open spaces of the prairie—can be seen throughout his work. Whether working in oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel, or mixed media, Michael approaches each piece as an opportunity to discover something new.
After decades of teaching art, Michael continues to learn through the process of creating.
Because for an artist, the journey never really ends.
There is always something more to see.
